How GUJCET Opening & Closing Ranks are Determined?

Usually, students are often confused about the opening and closing ranks of various colleges for which admissions are done on the basis of GUJCET. In order to make aspirants aware of the procedure, we have come up with an analysis of how opening and closing ranks are determined for a college. The below examples will help you to understand the procedure.

Example 1: Let us assume that a student scored 4235 rank in the GUJCET entrance exam. While exercising the web options, the student opted NIRMA University and Computer Science Engineering as the first preference. On the other hand, he/ she is the first student to opt for CSE in NIRMA University. Therefore, the opening rank for the CSE course at NIRMA University shall be 4235. At the same, a student who was the last one to admit in the CSE course of NIRMA University and his rank shall be considered as the closing rank.

Example 2: Let us assume that a student scored 12000 rank in the GUJCET entrance exam. While exercising the web options, the student opted for Government Engineering College (Rajkot) and Mechanical Engineering course as the first preference in the web option. On the other hand, he/ she is the last person to be admitted to the respective college. Therefore, the rank of this candidate can be considered as the closing rank of Government Engineering College (Rajkot).

How to Choose a College on the basis of GUJCET Score/ Rank?

Before choosing a college on the basis of GUJCET score or rank, the candidates must refer to the closing ranks of B.Tech colleges in Gujarat . This data will help the candidates to choose the right college while exercising the web options. The candidates must be careful while exercising the web options as he/ she should not end up choosing a college which had closing ranks beyond the rank scored by you in the entrance exam.

For example, if the closing rank of NIRMA University for B.Tech CSE in 2020 for General category was 1234, you can choose this college only if you rank is in the range of 1 - 1300. You will get admission through GUJCET in the respective university only if you fall under this rank slab. Even though the closing ranks change every year, there won’t be much difference between the previous year's closing ranks and current admission year ranks.

Dear Student,

LPUNEST B.Tech exam difficulty is generally moderate, striking a balance between easy and challenging questions. There is no negative marking, and the exam duration is usually 150 minutes. To prepare well, students should focus on core concepts, practice previous papers, and improve speed and accuracy.
