Mamata Banerjee has introduced the WB Student Credit Card Scheme to offer financial assistance to economically challenged students for educational purposes. Those who wish to apply for Secondary, Higher Secondary, Undergraduate or Postgraduate level of education and satisfy the Eligibility Criteria for West Bengal Student Credit Card will be granted a maximum credit loan amount of INR 10 Lakh at 4% per annum simple interest by the State Government. There is an upper age limit of 40 years of age for availing the student credit loan. The repayment term for WB Student Credit Card loan is 15 years. Moreover, a 1% concession in interest will be awarded to the students who have fully paid their loan interest on time during the study period.
