Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is one of the top science and research institutes in India, and there is a good competition to secure admission in IISc every year. IISc has released the official notification for PG admissions and Research admissions for the academic session 2020-21. Candidates can check all the details about the admission process here.
PG and Research Courses Offered by IISc
The Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore has released the application process to apply for following PG courses:
- Research Programmes: PhD/ M.Tech(Research)
- Course Programmes: M Tech/ M Des/M Mg
- Integrated Ph D Programmes
- PhD under External Registration Programmes

IISc Post Graduate Eligibility criteria 2020
Eligibility criteria vary department wise. Check eligibility criteria various postgraduate degree or research programme to apply at IISc:
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology or 4 years of Bachelor of Science. The candidate must also have a valid GATE or NET scorecard.
- Must hold a M.Sc degree or Masters’ degree in economics/ Geography/ Psychology/ Management/ Operations/ Computer Science/ Application/ Operations.
- Must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Technology/ Pharmacy / Veterinary Sciences/ Agriculture. Candidates must also have a valid GATE/ NET JRF/ GPAT score card.
- Must have an MS or MBA degree with a valid GATE or NET JRF scorecard
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with a minimum GPA of 8.5. Must also have a valid GATE or NET JRF scorecard.
- Must hold an MBBS or MD degree with a valid GATE/ NET JRF scorecard.
- Must hold a BPharm degree with a valid GPAT or JRF scorecard.
- Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Chemistry/Computer Science /Electronics with a valid GATE or NET JRF scorecard.
IISc PG Application Form 2020
Candidates must fill in the online application form which is available on the official website of IISc.
After completing the application, candidates must pay the application fees. Following are the application fees for different categories:
- General / OBC / EWS: INR 800
- SC / ST / PwD: INR 400
- ERP candidates: INR 2000
- Sponsored candidates from Defence, DRDO, ISRO, BARC, PWD NAL, NTRO, KSRTC, BMTC, BDA ad CPRI: INR 800
Payment can be done online using a debit or credit card and fees are nonrefundable.
IISc PG Selection Process
Based on the performance in the National Entrance Test and/or the qualifying degree, candidates are shortlisted for interview. Final decision is made based on the performance of the candidate in the interview. Some departments may also conduct aptitude tests followed by interviews.
