Is MBA the only Option for a Successful Career?

Education is a comprehensive term which relates to the totality of experiences gained by an individual throughout the life. In other words, it is the experiences that make you who you are. The skill set you possess and the way you put it to action defines your capability and worth.

Taking up a course of your choice at the undergrad level, enjoying college life, gaining experience through internships and finally landing into a job post completion to gain experience is the ideal path a student looks for. But as they say, human needs are never ending and so there comes a question of “What Next?” Quite often, Master of Business Administration ( MBA ) is one of the most sought after choice among students to lead to a career progression in life. It is, however, important to critically analyze the pros and cons of the same before investing your time, energy and money in it.

It is observed that as a result of the competition that exists in today’s time, a pressure block is developed in the mind of an individual who is at a stage of taking a decision to whether or not pursue higher education, more or less an MBA, because of the better opportunities it provides, the higher salary that it is linked with and the network base that it forms along with a great degree of exposure to the business world. What’s behind it? The attractive and glittery image it ‘displays’! Getting into a reputed B-School is not as easy as it sounds. It requires an impressive background of experience and a definite sense of direction of how you, as an individual, evaluate the worth of getting the degree.

On the contrary, one must also keep in mind that whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. Various studies have shown that many students from different backgrounds switch over to MBA without evaluating correctly their clarity, courage, confidence and competence in the new field. They may or may not be suited for a managerial job when their passion lies elsewhere. All they believe is that an MBA degree can do wonders to them. But you must remember that MBA is just the starting point. What you do afterward is what determines your career path and growth.

It cannot be denied that the fields of science and technology, research work, fashion etc. are equally valuable and in the end it all comes down to what actually gives you satisfaction, what kind of work makes you happy and what you are actually passionate about doing for the rest of your life.

It is a personal choice to whether or not opt for an MBA Program. It isn’t a mandatory requirement to reach a stage where you can earn recognition. We already know of people who made it big without a degree in their pocket to brag about! You could be one of them too.
