JEE Main Jan 23 Shift 1 Question Paper 2026: Which was the toughest and easiest sections?

The Mathematics and Chemistry portions in JEE Main 2026 question paper shift 1 were the toughest, while the Physics section was doable. The Math section consisted of lengthy questions and a few topics from the deleted syllabus. The Chemistry section had a good number of tricky questions, especially in the Inorganic Chemistry section. The Physics section majorly comrpised of application-based questions. Our subject-matter expert, Miss Puja, was quoted as saying, "Emphasis was given more on application-based, time-consuming questions. Chemistry was tough, which might result in a decline in percentile." In the previous year, the Day 3 JEE Mains followed a similar format, although the overall difficulty level of the exam slightly varied.

Preparation Takeaways for JEE 2026 Upcoming Shifts

Here are a few key suggestions for students who are appearing in the JEE Mains 2026 for last-minute strategies:

  • It is best to focus on topics which are high-yielding with lower efforts for the last-minute preparation. These topics include Semiconductors, Biomolecules, Statistics, Algebra, and the like.

  • A good way to remember different formulae and important areas is by practising the 3Rs, or Review, Recall and Repeat.

  • It is important to put equal focus on preparing the topics with maximum chances of repetition from previous years’ questionnaire.

  • To improve time-management skills, it is the best to practice mock test papers at home for the last-minute touch-up.

To sum it up, the JEE Mains Question Paper 23 January 2026 Shift 1 will be available here along with the answers after 12 PM. The unofficial question paper is released first based on the students’ reactions and experts’s analysis.
