GFTI colleges list

List of GFTI Colleges in India - Currently, there are a total of 40 GFTIs in India. The top GFTI colleges in India are the Institute of Chemical Technology, BITS Ranchi, and the University of Hyderabad. These institutes offer a comprehensive education that equips students for their professional jobs thanks to their first-class facilities, knowledgeable teachers, and emphasis on research and development. Students who are enthusiastic about science and technology should attend GFTI institutions. Engineering is one of the most demanded courses in GFTIs. To secure B.Tech admission in GFTIs candidates need to pass the JEE Main 2026 and appear in the JoSAA counselling.

If you are looking for colleges for your higher studies, GFTIs are one of the best options for you. GFTIs or Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) are supported by the Indian government or one of its state governments. GFTIs are one of the premier colleges of India offering degrees in engineering, architecture, planning, management, law, etc. The JEE Main rank is determined based on the scores of JEE Main plus the class 12 marks in the ratio (60:40). Therefore, along with their JEE preparations, students should also focus on the CBSE Class 12 Syllabus. Apart from engineering, GFTI colleges also offer courses like MBA and M.Tech for which candidates need to pass CAT and GATE, respectively.

The article below talks about the top GFTIs in India, their admission process, seat intake, cutoff, and fee structure.

GFTI Counselling Registration Process 2026

To participate in the JoSAA counselling process 2026, candidates have to register themselves online through the official website of JoSAA. Candidates can log in by using their respective JEE Main exam roll numbers. Candidates are not required to fill in any other personal or academic details to register for JoSAA. All the details will be directly taken from the student's JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2026 application forms. However, candidates will have to update their contact details while applying for the centralised counselling process conducted by JoSAA.

GFTI Choice Filling through JoSAA 2026

Candidates who qualify for the JEE Main exam are considered eligible for admission to the courses offered by the different GFTIs in India. The first step in GFTI seat allocation is to select the stream and the institute in which the candidate is interested to apply. Once the candidates have selected the steam, they will have to arrange the choice as per their preference. One must ensure that the choice of streams is filled in the order of preference - most preferred to least preferred. This can be done through the Arrange Filled Choices option available on the JoSAA official website. Ensure that you fill in the choices as per your interest and only then submit the options.

GFTI Counselling and Seat Allotment 2026

The counselling dates for admission to the Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) will be provided in the table above as indicated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority. Only those candidates who qualify for JEE Main 2026 will be able to take part in the GFTI counselling. The seat allotment for GFTIs will be done on the basis of the rank and score achieved by a candidate in the JEE Main exam. Since the year, the JEE Main exam is conducted twice by the NTA, it is an opportunity for students to better their scores with the two choices of attempts.
