Maharashtra BSc Nursing 2026 Counselling Process

The Maharashtra BSc Nursing 2026 counselling process will be held in online mode. The counselling process is conducted in three stages: Round 1, Round 2, and a Mop-Up Round. The counselling conducting body releases a state-level merit list announcing the names of the students who are eligible for participating in the counselling process. Based on the merit list, students can register themselves for the Maharashtra BSc Nursing 2026 counselling. The counselling is conducted in three to four steps, namely, registration, choice-filling, seat allotment, and physical reporting to the allotted colleges.

Phase 1: CAP Registration & Document Upload (July 2026)

Even after registering for the entrance exam in January, registration for the CAP rounds must be done again after the results are released.

  • At first, you are required to log in to the official portal @cetcell.mahacet.org using your CET credentials.

  • Especially in 2026, the APAAR ID will be used by the CET Cell to draw your academic records directly from DigiLocker. Your 10th and 12th marksheets must be updated there.

  • Uploading scanned copies of your Domicile, Caste Validity, and Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificates stands as mandatory.

Phase 2: Merit List & Seat Matrix (August 2026)

Before you fill in your college preferences, two crucial documents will be released by the CET Cell:

  1. Provisional Merit List containing your State Merit List (SML) rank which solely determines your admission.

  2. Seat Matrix containing a detailed table that exhibits how many seats are available in each college (Government vs. Private) and how they are segregated among different categories like SC, ST, OBC, Open, etc.

Phase 3: Preference Filling (The Option Form)

  • You are required to list the colleges you wish to join in order of preference up to a maximum limit of 300. Up to 300 college-course combinations are allowed.

  • Your "Dream" government colleges like JJ Hospital or BJMC should be mentioned at the top. Your 1st preference will be considered first and if you don't have the rank, your 2nd preferred college will be considered.

  • After you have submitted your preferences, "Lock" them. You will not be allowed to change them for that round.

Phase 4: Selection & Allotment Rounds

There are usually three main rounds followed by a Mop-up round in the CAP round.

  • Rounds 1 & 2 are standard rounds conducted depending on merit and preference.

  • The "Betterment" Option in which you can opt for a better college in Round 2. If you are given the college that was 3rd in your preference list but you want the 1st college, you can accept the seat and pay the fee, but you must avoid fill the Status Retention Form.

  • Status Retention takes place if you are satisfied with the college you got. Fill out this form to "freeze" your seat and opt out of the further CAP rounds.
