MCI Barred MBBS Course in 7 Medical Colleges

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has striped 7 private medical colleges in U.P. from running their MBBS course, reveals an office bearer of the council. “MCI which governs the medical colleges of the country had inspected these institutes some time back and found them wanting on various parameters including faculty, infrastructure, labs and hygiene condition. On the basis of their inspections MCI had taken the decision to debar these institutions to continue their MBBS courses,” said the same official. Now the number of MBBS seats in Uttar Pradesh for the 2015-16 session has dwindled by 900. Of the 7 institutes, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Career Institute of Medical Sciences are from Lucknow and have 100 east each. The other institutes and medical colleges barred are Major S.D. Singh Medical College, Fatehgarh, Rama Medical College Hospital and Research Center, Hapur, Rajshri Medical Institute, Bareilly and FH medical College Tundla in Firozabad district and Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences, Barabanki etc. Of the colleges Rama Medical College Hospital and Research Center, Rajshri Medical Institute, FH medical College Tundla and Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences have 150 seats each. Meanwhile, several barred institutes have requested the MCI to inspect once again their campuses as their action would only spoil the career of many students who had admitted there. While some institutes are considering about approaching the courts if MCI did not heed to their request. (Input from News Agencies IANS)
