Subject Expert Analysis on Maharashtra HSC English Question Paper 2026

The English question paper of HSC Exams 2026 seemed 'Easy' and not challenging, specifically for students who have mastered the prose and poetry parts along with basic grammar skills. Section I, which consists of prose, had comprehension and grammar-based questions. The grammar-based questions asked in the comprehension were pretty direct from the textbook and lessons. Therefore, solving this section was not challenging for students. Section 2 questions were direct and from important lessons (that were already predicted by English teachers). There were questions from previous years' question papers as well. Here are some of the key takeaways by the subject expert -
  • Questions asked on the Indian Weavers poem appreciation (Chapter 2.2 in the English Textbook) were pretty doable and easy
  • Only the first passage asked in Section 1 was lengthy and time consuming
  • The paper was not at all suprising and it was on the expected lines in comparison to previous years' papers
  • A few questions asked in the grammar part were directly from the textbook
  • Students mastering direct-indirect speech and vocabulary given in the textbook shall score full marks in Section I
  • Students who practised writing skills based on the questions/ examples given in the textbook shall fare well in the exam
  • Overall, the difficulty level of the paper can be considered easy, similar to the last 2 years' difficulty level
  • Questions related to the documentary review were slightly confusing for students
