Punjabi University slashes 'Golden Chance' Exam Fee

The Punjabi University has recently announced that it has revised the special examination scheme, reducing the earlier 'Golden Chance' Exam Fee. According to the reports, students who could not complete their degrees for various reasons were eligible to do so by paying a fee of Rs 50,000/- along with a Rs 3,000/- tax. This was announced to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, offering students a final chance or a golden opportunity to complete their pending degrees. The amount has been slashed by 65%, to Rs 17,500/- plus Rs 3,000/- tax. This decision came into effect as a result of the severe criticism by authorities and backlash from the students. Students who have already paid the previously decided fee will get a reimbursement by the concerned university by November 15, 2025. Additionally, the deadline for applying to the exams has also been extended from November 15 to November 21, 2025.

The exams for the first, third and fifth semesters are expected to be conducted in December 2025, while the exams for the rest of the semesters are expected to be held in May 2026. The exams will follow the current syllabus and will be held exclusively at Patiala.
