The Government of Tamil Nadu declared a holiday for all schools on November 28 due to heavy rains. IMD predicted rains in Tamil Nadu till December 2. As there was a chance for heavy rains in a few districts of Tamil Nadu till December 1, a decision on school holiday has been taken for Puducherry and Karikal regions. Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Ranipettai, Chennai, Kancheepuram and Ramananthapuram are under alert for heavy rains till the night of December 1 and early hours of December 2.

In the neighbouring state, Andhra Pradesh, school holiday has been announced for December 1 in Tirupati and Annamayya districts due to heavy rains.
