Tamil Nadu School Holiday Update 29 November 2025: Tamil Nadu is getting a burst of heavy northeast‑monsoon rain. According to the latest updates, schools in all districts will be closed on November 29 as per the TN Government's order. Because of this widespread rain, schools in the red‑alert zones, Villupuram, Puducherry, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai have also announced a holiday on November 29, 2025 , in advance. The India Meteorological Department says heavy to very heavy rain will hit many places, with extremely heavy downpours expected in the state. Parents should keep an eye on more official announcements and keep children at home when travel becomes unsafe.

Annamalai University has postponed all exams scheduled on November 29 due to the heavy rain conditions. The revised dates will be notified soon.

On November 29, 2025, the sea around Tamil Nadu is expected to be very rough. In the Gulf of Mannar and the Comorin area, winds are 65‑75 km/h with gusts up to 85 km/h, strengthening to 70‑80 km/h with gusts up to 90 km/h by morning. Along the northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts, winds start at 50‑60 km/h (gusts 70 km/h) and rise to 70‑80 km/h (gusts 90 km/h) the same day. The southern coast experiences winds of 55‑65 km/h (gusts 75 km/h), increasing to 60‑70 km/h (gusts 80 km/h) on the same day.

Fishermen are urged not to venture out, and anyone at sea should avoid the southwest Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area, and the waters off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until December 1, 2025.
