Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University (RMLAU), established on March 4, 1975, by the Uttar Pradesh government as an affiliating institution in Ayodhya, was renamed in 1993-94 to honor the socialist icon Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. It now serves approximately 5 lakh students through nine residential postgraduate departments and over 600 affiliated colleges spanning seven districts: Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Barabanki, Bahraich, and Gonda. The Institute of Engineering & Technology, launched in 2000, offers BTech programs in six branches with 360 seats at ₹65,450 annually and an MBA with 60 seats at ₹30,450.
