JEE Main exam analysis 28 January 2026 will be provided here real-time for reference of students. The breakdown of the shift-wise exam will be available here shortly after the Shift 1 and 2 exams are over. The level of difficulty for both shifts on Day 5 is expected to be moderate. JEE Main 2026 paper analysis will vary subject-wise for both shifts, with a similar paper structure and topic-wise weightage. Students are expecting the Mathematics section in the entrance exam to be the most difficult and the Chemistry section to be the easiest. On the other hand, the Physics difficulty level is expected to vary between an easy and moderate level.

The JEE Main cutoff changes every year and differs across categories. While the qualifying percentile does not guarantee admission to NITs or IIITs, it is mandatory for students to appear in JEE Advanced exam 2026. As our experienced JEE ranks vs percentile analysis expert Supreeta Roy predicts - "Having scored 85+ percetnile in JEE Mains Session 1 exam 2026, you can expect a rank between 211,500 and 225,000. This means you will likely have to achieve 82-84.2+ marks in the paper. However, given a tough paper, this marks range may fall between 58.5-59.9+. With this percentile score, students can get admission to IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Gwalior, NIT Goa etc. But top NITs are usually out of reach, especially for the General category candidates." The article deals with the expected marks vs rank for 85+ percentile in JEE Mains 2026, estimated using this year's difficulty level and recent cutoff trends.

Predicted Percentile for 165 Marks in JEE Main 2026 Session 1: If you score 165 marks in JEE Main 2026 Session 1, you are in a good and highly competitive position. At this score, the candidate remains well ahead of the vast majority who take the test, and can be confident of solid chances during counselling. Based on subject experts’ analysis and previous years, it is expected that a candidate scoring 165 or more marks in a moderately difficult paper may fetch a percentile of approximately 98.56+ with a rank of approximately 21,600 or better. Though these figures are indicative and may slightly vary due to normalisation across shifts and overall performance at the all-India level, this score provides a good benchmark and is confidently taken into account in the planning of admission.

Subject Expert Percentile Prediction for 118 Marks in JEE Main 2026 Session 1: If the candidates are curious to know the expected percentile for 118 marks, then they are on the right page. Based on the previous years’ trends, it is assumed that the expected percentile for 118 marks might be varied between 92.9+ and 97.08+. For better understanding, the CollegeDekho subject matter expert, Kurra Srinivas, has provided insight regarding the percentile prediction for 118 marks. Note that this is nothing but the expected analysis of percentile vs rank; the actual percentile for 118 marks might be varied since the same will depend on certain determinants, such as the difficulty level of the paper, the number of test takers who appeared for the exam, etc. For better understanding, the candidates are advised to stay connected with this article.

The JEE Main 2026 exam conducted on January 22 had two shifts with noticeable differences in difficulty level. Because percentile in JEE Main is calculated using normalization, it becomes important to look at shift-wise marks vs percentile trends rather than raw marks alone. Based on early expert analysis and student feedback, the JEE Main 2026 Jan 22 marks vs percentile pattern shows that Shift 1 and Shift 2 followed different scoring trends.
