After gainng 5+ years of experience in guiding JEE students on marks vs percentile scores, Mahima Gupta predicts - "150 marks in JEE Mains will likely put you in the 96.85-98.88+ percentile range, depending on the paper difficulty level and NTA score normalization. For a tough paper, 150-159 marks can get you a JEE rank between 12,150 and 16,800, which is a good range if you are aiming for the popular NIT colleges." Scoring 150 marks in JEE Main 2026 is a significant achievement that positions the examinee well above the average line and typically places the person in the high percentile range alongside other candidates. Nevertheless, it is the percentile that dictates the rank and the counselling outcomes, not only the raw marks. Due to the normalisation and the differences between the sessions, the same score could result in different percentiles depending on the overall performance of the peers and the level of difficulty of a particular session.
