85+ Percentile in JEE Main 2026 Predictions and Expectations

The JEE Main cutoff changes every year and differs across categories. While the qualifying percentile does not guarantee admission to NITs or IIITs, it is mandatory for students to appear in JEE Advanced exam 2026. As our experienced JEE ranks vs percentile analysis expert Supreeta Roy predicts - "Having scored 85+ percetnile in JEE Mains Session 1 exam 2026, you can expect a rank between 211,500 and 225,000. This means you will likely have to achieve 82-84.2+ marks in the paper. However, given a tough paper, this marks range may fall between 58.5-59.9+. With this percentile score, students can get admission to  IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Gwalior, NIT Goa etc. But top NITs are usually out of reach, especially for the General category candidates." The article deals with the expected marks vs rank for 85+ percentile in JEE Mains 2026, estimated using this year's difficulty level and recent cutoff trends.

Dear student,

Either of the colleges would be a great choice to pursue a career in the field of engineering. However, while the Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology does offer the BTech CSE stream, the college doesn’t have an integrated B.Tech/M.Tech CSE course is listed on its website. As far as the comparison between the B Tech CSE course at the IEM, Kolkata, and NSIT Ahmedabad, both colleges offer a 4-year UG program that focuses on topics such as Computer Programming, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Algorithms, etc. Additionally, the average course fee at IEM, Kolkata, for a 4-year UG CSE course is INR 4,17,000; on the other hand, the course fee at NSIT, Ahmedabad, is INR 63,000 per annum. Talking about the placement opportunities, the IEM Kolkata offers several placements with top recruiters, including brands such as Amazon, TCS, and GreyB Analytics. The decision of selecting a college may also depend on your location; therefore, we suggest, you share more details about your location, so we can assist you better. Overall, both institutes offer great opportunities, while NSIT, Ahmedabad, can be a more affordable option, the IEM, Kolkata, will offer more vibrant career opportunities.

We hope this information was helpful to you. If you have further queries regarding B.Tech admission, you can write to hello@collegedekho.com or call our toll free number 18005729877, or simply fill out our Common Application Form on the website.

Dear Student,

NSIT Ahmedabad offers B.Tech, M.Sc, and integrated B.Sc + M.Sc courses in fields like engineering and forensic science.

  • For B.Tech, the total fees are around ₹2.5 lakhs for 4 years.
  • The integrated forensic science course (B.Sc + M.Sc) costs around ₹8.7 lakhs for 5 years.
  • M.Sc programs are around ₹3.5–4.5 lakhs depending on the subject.
  • For B.Tech, you’ll need 12th with PCM and GUJCET or JEE Main.

For forensic science, admission is mostly through their entrance test (NFAT/NFET) and your 12th marks. They also have hostel facilities like rooms in sharing, and hostel + mess charges together come to about ₹60k–₹90k a year. The hostel seems decent with basic facilities like Wi-Fi, study tables, etc.
