Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan has organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘New Research Methodologies on Tourism’. The aim of the programme was to uplift the tourism sector, which has been severely hit by the Covid-19 outbreak. The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism – SOA, has organized the FDP. Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha, Professor I Ramabrahmam took part in the programme and expressed his ideas.
Almost 20 eminent scholars from different parts of the country took part in the FDP. Over 120 participants from different organizations within India and abroad have also participated in the programme.
Some of the prominent organizations that took part in the FDP were National University – Bangladesh, CIPET, OSEPA, IHM, Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society etc.
Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (Deemed-to-be-University) has organized a virtual conference on Green Technology and Smart City recently. It was a two-day international conference where experts from different parts of the world converged online to discuss various topics related to electrical power engineering, advanced computing and communication engineering. Top researchers and academicians from reputed international universities such as Sejong University – South Korea, University of Teramo – Italy and Concordia University – Canada participated in the conference.
Professor Bidyadhar Subudhi of IIT Goa provided an overview of control of the micro-grid system, explained disturbed control and pointed out challenges with regard to the topic.
Different sessions took place as a part of the conference on August 13 & 14. The conference played a vital role in bringing academicians, researches and scientists together to discuss their ideas.
The researchers of medical faculty of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan – Institute of Medical Sciences & SUM Hospital have played a vital role in helping CSIR Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology to identify 73 novel variants of Covid-19 strain. This is the first of its kind of research in India, and it is a remarkable achievement for the SOA researchers.
The researchers carried out the sequencing of 1,536 samples, which include 752 clinical samples that reported two lineages B.1.112 and B.1.99. The Lead Investigator of this research was Dr. Jayashankar Das, Director (Research Wing) – Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital of SOA.
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research supported the research team of SOA in coming up with the most advanced COVIDSeq technology for the first time in the world. With this research, India emerged as the best country to complete the first field validation. The data with regard to the same has been released online.
Students of Institute of Technical Education & Research (ITER) – Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan have achieved a milestone by winning the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020. A team comprising of six students of ITER has won the contest by providing a solution to eradicate crime through digital means. MHRD organizes SIH every year, and the 2020 edition took place in online mode due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The Bureau of Police Research and Development gave the problem statement, and the team was asked to provide solutions for Community Oriented Policing/ Digital Policing.
The team X-Legion Coders qualified for SIH 2020 by participating in an internal competition conducted by SOA in February. The grand finale of SIH 2020 was conducted from August 01 to 03, 2020.

Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University, was recently awarded as the ‘Most Revered University in Eastern India’ by the Times of India, at the prestigious Times Business Awards 2020.
