The National Institutional Ranking Framework released the NIRF rankings for the year 2025 on September 4, on the official website, nirfindia.org. In the overall category, 17 Indian Institue of Technology (s) have made it to the list of top IIT colleges; IIT Roorkee moved up to 7th position, and IIT Indore moved up 6 places from 33rd to 27th position this year. WB Govt. Appoints IIT Kharagpur to prepare Safety SoP for Durga Puja: With UNESCO’s recognition serving as a catalyst, Durga Puja—the grandest public art celebration in the world—is preparing to take a transformative step towards inclusivity and safety. Determined to make the festival not only magnificent but also accessible to all, the West Bengal government has appointed IIT Kharagpur to design detailed accessibility frameworks along with a Safety Standard Operating Procedure tailored specifically for the Puja festivities.

BSF and IIT Khargapur Collaborate to Develop Indigenous Drones: The Border Security Force (BSF) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) to develop advanced drone technologies. This collaboration aims to enhance the BSF's capabilities in drone forensics, counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, research and development, and training. The agreement was signed by BSF's Inspector General (ICT), Maninder Pratap Singh Pawar, and IIT-K's Dean of Research and Development, Prof Tarun Gupta, in the presence of BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary.

IIT Placements 2024-25: IIT Placements for the year 2024-2025 have been conducted in two phases for all the IITs. Usually, the first phase began around December and the second phase from February to May. IIT Bombay reported an average package of approximately INR 36.9 LPA, with sectors like technology, finance, and consulting dominating recruitment. IIT Indore recorded an average salary of around INR 23.50 LPA, with top-performing BTech branches like Computer Science Engineering and Electrical Engineering having the highest averages. IIT Kharagpur recorded a Domestic Highest Package of INR 1 Crore with top recruiters like  Apple, Texas Instruments, Goldman Sachs, Uber, and Schlumberger. IIT Delhi is recorded to have offered the highest package of INR 1 Crore Per Annum at the domestic level, with more than 50 offers above INR 1 crore. IIT Kharagpur's IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter is offering a remote internship in AI and ML as part of its Summer Internship Programme 2025. To apply, candidates need to submit a Google Form application along with an updated CV, passport-size photo, scanned signature, and valid student ID card. The seats are allocated to the candidates by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) through centralized counselling done across multiple stages, based on their choice and rank. To register for the JEE Main examination 2026, students will be required to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency @jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main application form 2026 has been released on October 31, 2025, and the candidates can register for the January session 1 exam till November 27, 2025.
