NIT Raipur Admission Process 2026

The NIT Raipur admission process 2026 follows a structured, step-by-step framework governed by national admission authorities. Selection is based on entrance exam rank, eligibility criteria, category norms, and seat availability. Candidates must participate in centralised counselling and complete all formalities to secure admission. Below is the course-wise NIT Raipur admission process for 2026.

NIT Raipur UG Admission Process

The NIT Raipur UG admission process 2026 applies to B.Tech and B.Arch programmes offered across various specialisations. To be eligible, candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognised board. The NIT Raipur admission is done based on JEE Main rank, followed by JoSAA counselling.

The UG admission process includes:

  • Appearing for JEE Main 2026
Students must appear for JEE Main 2026, prepare as per syllabus, choose preferred session, secure a valid rank, as this score is mandatory for admission to NIT Raipur engineering programmes.
  • Registering for JoSAA counselling
After results, candidates must register on JoSAA counselling portal, create choices, provide personal details, lock preferences on time, since JoSAA manages seat allocation for NIT Raipur admissions every academic year.
  • Filling NIT Raipur and course preferences
During choice filling, students should select NIT Raipur and preferred BTech branches carefully, arranging options by interest and rank strategy, as this directly affects allotment chances during JoSAA counselling rounds.
  • Seat allotment based on rank, category, and availability
JoSAA conducts multiple rounds where seats are allotted based on JEE Main rank, reservation category, home state quota, and seat availability in chosen NIT Raipur courses across different counselling rounds.
  • Seat acceptance and fee payment
Once allotted a seat, candidates must accept it online, pay the seat acceptance fee within deadlines, and choose willingness options to proceed towards final admission at NIT Raipur campus officially.
  • Physical reporting at NIT Raipur with documents
Finally, students must physically report to NIT Raipur, carry original documents, certificates, and fee receipts, complete verification, and confirm admission as per institute schedule issued by authorities during JoSAA counselling.

NIT Raipur PG Admission Process

The NIT Raipur PG admission process 2026 covers M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA, and MCA programmes. For M.Tech admissions, candidates must have a valid GATE score and apply through CCMT counselling. M.Sc admissions are conducted through CCMN counselling based on JAM scores. MBA admissions at NIT Raipur are based on CAT scores, followed by institute-level shortlisting, group discussion, or personal interview, as applicable.

The PG admission process generally includes:

  • Qualifying the relevant entrance exam
Candidates must qualify the relevant entrance examination with the required cutoff score, as this eligibility is compulsory for participation in counselling and securing admission to NIT Raipur programmes.
  • Registering on the respective counselling portal
After qualifying, students must register on the respective counselling portal within given dates, fill personal and academic details correctly, and complete registration to participate in the NIT Raipur admission process.
  • Selecting NIT Raipur and programme preferences
During choice filling, candidates should carefully select NIT Raipur and preferred programmes, prioritising branches based on interest, eligibility, and rank to maximise chances of seat allotment.
  • Seat allotment and confirmation
Seats are allotted through counselling rounds based on rank, category, and availability, after which candidates must confirm the allotted seat online by completing required acceptance steps within deadlines.
  • Document verification and institute reporting
Finally, candidates must report to NIT Raipur for physical document verification, submit original certificates, complete remaining formalities, and confirm admission as per the institute’s notified schedule.

NIT Raipur PhD Admission Process

The NIT Raipur PhD admission process 2026 is conducted at the institute level for various departments. Candidates must possess a valid GATE or NET score, or qualify an institute-conducted written test.

The PhD admission process includes:

  • Submitting the online PhD application form
Candidates must submit the online PhD application form within the notified dates, providing academic details, research interests, documents, and application fee to be considered for PhD admission.
  • Shortlisting based on eligibility and entrance score
Applicants are shortlisted by the institute based on minimum eligibility criteria, academic background, and valid entrance examination scores, which determine participation in the next selection stages.
  • Written test and personal interview
Shortlisted candidates must appear for a written test and personal interview conducted by NIT Raipur to assess subject knowledge, research aptitude, and suitability for the chosen PhD programme.
  • Provisional admission offer
Based on performance in the written test and interview, selected candidates receive a provisional PhD admission offer, subject to document verification and fulfilment of all eligibility requirements.

NIT Raipur Application Process 2026

The NIT Raipur application process 2026 depends on the programme applied for and is mostly conducted through national counselling portals rather than a single institute application form. Candidates are required to apply separately for entrance exams and counselling processes.

  • Register for the relevant entrance examination
Students must first apply for the appropriate national-level entrance exam like JEE Main, GATE, JAM, or CAT, depending on the NIT Raipur course they wish to pursue.
  • Appear and qualify the entrance exam
Candidates must appear for the registered entrance examination and secure the required qualifying score or rank, as admissions to NIT Raipur are strictly merit-based through national exams.
  • Register on JoSAA, CCMT, CCMN, or institute portal as applicable
After qualifying, students need to register on the relevant counselling portal such as JoSAA, CCMT, CCMN, or the official NIT Raipur portal, based on their chosen programme.
  • Fill NIT Raipur course preferences
During counselling registration, candidates must carefully select and prioritise NIT Raipur courses and specialisations according to their rank, interest, eligibility, and long-term academic or career goals.
  • Participate in counselling and seat allotment rounds
Students must actively participate in multiple counselling rounds where seats are allotted based on entrance exam rank, category, preferences filled, and seat availability at NIT Raipur.
  • Accept the allotted seat and pay the required fee
Once a seat is allotted, candidates must confirm acceptance online by paying the prescribed admission or seat-confirmation fee within the given deadline to avoid seat cancellation.
  • Report physically to NIT Raipur for admission confirmation
Finally, students must report to the NIT Raipur campus for document verification and completion of admission formalities, which officially confirms their enrolment in the allotted course.

Dear student,

With your score of 10720 in NIMCET, it seems difficult for you to get admission in any of the NITs. The top NITs like Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad usually close admissions for the General category within the top 50-300 ranks. Even for reserved categories, the ranks typically do not extend into five digits.

For other participating NITs like Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Patna, Raipur, Agartala generally remain within the top 1000-2000 for the General/OBC-NCL categories. For SC/ST categories, some may go up to 4000-8000, but 10720 is still a very difficult rank to get into any of the participating NITs.

Unfortunately, with an All India Rank of 10720, your chances of getting admission into any of the NIMCET participating NITs (National Institutes of Technology) is highly unlikely for the MCA programme. Based on previous years' cut-off trends, it will be difficulut for you to get a seat even if you belong to the reserved categories basis last year's trend. The competition is extremely high for these limited seats (around 800-1000 seats across all NITs).

You can try for other universities like AKTU, GGSIPU, HBTU, UoH and state government aided universities. You might need to appear for state exams like MAH MCA CET for Maharashtra, OJEE for Odisha, PGCET for Karnataka, etc. for admission to state universities.

With an an OBC rank of 803 in the NIMCET 2025 exam, you have a good chance of getting admission into several NITs such as NIT Raipur, NIT Krukshetra and NIT Jamshedpur.

JoSAA eligibility requires 2025 requires a passing grade in all the subjects in your Class 12 (or equivalent) examination. While the 75% (or 65%) criterion is important for the general/reserved category eligibility, it's also important that you pass all the subjects in your Class 12. If you have further queries regarding Engineering course admission, you can write to hello@collegedekho.com or call our toll free number 18005729877, or simply fill out our Common Application Form on the website.

Hi, if your degree results are expected in May or June, you can still apply for the NIMSET 2025 (Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Engineering, and Technology) admission exam. Here's what you must understand while applying:

  • Make sure you meet all of the qualifying criteria for NIMSET 2025, which often include having completed or being in the final year of your degree. Even if your results are waiting, you can apply with the assumption that you will meet the qualifying requirements whenever they are available.
  • The NIMCET 2025 application form is expected to be released online at nimcet.admissions.nic.in in March 2025, with the last date for submission likely to be in the third week of April 2025.
  • If your degree results are due after the application deadline, see if the application form permits you to provide provisional details (like marks obtained so far). Many examinations allow applicants in this position to apply after their results are released.
  • While you wait for your results, ensure that you have other required documents ready, such as your ID proof, previous academic records, and other relevant certificates. When the results are announced, you can quickly update or submit the necessary information.
  • Once your degree result is announced, finalize your application by updating it with the final marks or certificates. Just ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements before the deadline.

I hope this is helpful!
