MH CET Law 2026 Syllabus

MH CET Law syllabus 2026 is a structured outline of topics that candidates must study to appear for the MH CET Law 2026 exam, the state-level entrance exam used for admission into both the 5-year integrated LLB and 3-year LLB programmes in participating Maharashtra law colleges. For both the 3-year and 5-year LLB programmes, the core areas covered include Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge with Current Affairs, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, and English. These sections together assess a candidate’s interest in law, ability to interpret legal propositions and facts, awareness of general and current events, capacity to identify logical patterns and relationships, and proficiency in English grammar and comprehension. The Legal Aptitude section typically involves analyzing legal principles and applying them to given fact scenarios to infer conclusions, while the General Knowledge segment includes topics from history, geography, civics, economics, general science and recent happenings of the past year. Logical and Analytical Reasoning focuses on pattern recognition, analogies, deductive reasoning and drawing conclusions, and the English section evaluates vocabulary, usage, error spotting, sentence improvement and reading comprehension skills. In addition to these four sections, the 5-year LLB syllabus also incorporates a Basic Mathematics/Mathematical Aptitude section designed to test numerical ability at approximately the Class 10 level, with questions on topics like profit and loss, speed and distance, time and work, averages, algebra and Venn diagrams. This section is smaller in weightage but can be a scoring area for many candidates.

Detailed Section-Wise Syllabus of MH CET Law 2026

Candidates can join the best law coaching centres or they can study on their own to prepare for the law entrance exam. In the entrance examination, for 3-year LLB programme, questions from the graduation level are expected to be asked and for the 5-year LLB programme, questions from the intermediate level will be asked in the entrance examination.

Logical / Abstract Reasoning

• This section aims to check out the interest of the student towards the legal aptitude, the study of law and problem-solving ability.
• The questions are framed around legal prepositions and a set of facts where the said prepositions have to be applied.
• In certain cases, the prepositions might not be true. Here, the candidates have to assume the prepositions are true and have to conclude based on the hypothetical proposition.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

• The candidates are assessed on the basis of their awareness of the world. Also, the knowledge of recent happenings of the aspirant is put to test.
• Topics to be studied in General Knowledge and Current Affairs section include Geography, History (Modern, Medieval, Ancient), Economics, General Science, Geography, Current Affairs and Civics.
• Generally, the events from the past year are covered.

Logical and Analytical Reasoning

• The candidates are tested on their ability to identify logical links, patterns and rectify illogical arguments.
• Logical and Analytical Reasoning Section comprises completing arguments, analogies, reasoning by analogy, drawing well-supported conclusion and applying principles and rules. 
• Further, the potential of the aspirants is measured on the parameters of comprehending the structure, relationship and to draw logical conclusions about the structures.
• It also englobes reasoning deductively from the set of rules and statements or principles that describes the relationship among things, events and persons.

English

• The English section includes the questions from the areas like Vocabulary, English Usage Errors and Proficiency of the English Language.
• The candidates are judged as per their English comprehension skills with a minimum of 2 passages. 
• The reasoning and reading ability of the aspirant is also tested by around five to ten questions that follow the comprehension passages.

Basic Mathematics

• The numerical ability of the candidates is tested in the Basic Mathematics section. 
• The questions put up from Mathematics in MH CET Law are from class 10 of various topics including Speed and Distance, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Average, Time and Work and Venn Diagram.

MH CET Law 2026 Exam Pattern: Overview

Here is a quick overview of the MH CET Law 2026 exam pattern - 

• MH CET Law 2026 will include objective questions. 4 options will be available, out of which 1 will have to be selected.
• No marks will be deducted for wrong answers or for not answering any question.
• 1 mark will be given for each correct answer.
• Overall mark for MH CET Law for 5-year and 3-year LLB is 120 (revised). The total number of questions is 120 as well.
• 4 sections are there in MH CET Law for 3-year LLB and 5 for 5-year LLB.
• The exam duration is 2 hours.
