PU CET PG Eligibility Criteria 2026

If you’re thinking about taking the PU CET PG exam 2026, then you must keep an eye out for the official notification of the exam, which the authority will post on the official website at www.puchd.ac.in. The official notification will consist of all the important dates and eligibility requirements you need to meet to sit for the exam. Since the notification is not expected until April 2026, till then, you can check the website of Panjab University to be updated about the latest events or check the previous year's eligibility criteria.

The PU CET PG eligibility criteria are the minimum requirements that candidates need to fulfil to be eligible for the entrance exam.  The eligibility criteria may vary based on the course/program, but they do not differ significantly year-on-year. The application period for the PU CET PG will begin once the notification is released in April 2026 till June 2026. Course-wise PU CET PG Eligibility 2026

Panjab University offers many PG programs for students who are willing to pursue higher education. But, they need to fulfil the basic criteria to be able to apply for the particular course. The PU CET PG eligibility criteria 2026 for PG programs such as MA, MCom, MTech, and more are listed in the table below:

  • MA- A bachelor’s degree with at least 45% in the chosen subject / Bachelor’s degree in any specialisation with at least 50% total scores.
  • Master of Laws (LLM)- An LLB degree or a BCom LLB Hons. degree with at least 55% marks in total (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD) / A recognised equivalent exam of other university.
  • MSc- A BA or BSc (Pass or Hons.) exam with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
  • Master of Computer Applications (MCA)- A recognised bachelor’s degree of atleast 3 Years duration with at least 50% total marks & with Mathematics as a subject in 10+2 or graduation / BCA degree with at least 50% marks from Panjab University.
  • MTech- A relevant B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Sc degree from an institute or university approved by the AICTE with at least 50% marks in total. Preference will be given to candidates who have passed the GATE exam. 
  • Executive MBA-  A bachelor’s or master's degree in any specialisation with at least 50% total marks / Any equivalent exam recognised by the university with at least 50% total marks. The candidate should have worked with an organisation, and they should have passed the PU CET PG qualifying exam. Employees from a state or India's administrative and technical services, and defence personnel in administrative positions, can also apply. The candidate should present a no-objection certificate signed by the employer in order to apply for this program. 
  • MCom- A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with at least 50% total scores / Passed the final exam administered by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India or England / Any relevant qualification. 
  • Master of Physical Education- The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Physical Education degree or an equivalent degree with at least 50% total scores / A B.Sc. in Health & Physical Education degree with at least 50% total scores / Any other equivalent qualification.

PU CET PG 2026 Reservation Policy

The authority has provided reservation of seats for the reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD). While 53.5% seats are for the students of the General category, 46.5% seats are for the Reserved category. The seats reserved for each category are listed below:
