VITEEE Eligibility Criteria 2026: The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) releases the eligibility criteria for the VITEEE on the official website. Students who are willing to appear for the VITEEE 2026 have to fulfil the eligibility criteria. The basic eligibility criteria for the VITEEE is to hold a 10+2 degree or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths/Biology stream with a minimum of 60 per cent marks.   • Must be a Non-Resident Indian/Resident National.

  • OCI and PIO holders are also eligible to apply for VITEEE 2026. Foreign candidates can directly apply through the foreign category. 

Educational Qualification
  • Must have secured an aggregate of 60% in Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Mathematics in the 12th Board exam.
  • One belonging to Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim must have secured an average of 50% in PCM/PCB in the 10+2 or equivalent. Also, aspirants must have the Migration cum Transfer Certificate at the time of counselling.

  • Applicants who have studied Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics are eligible for all the B.Tech courses.

  • Applicants who have studied Biology, Physics and Chemistry are eligible for B.Tech. Biotechnology, Bio-Engineering and B.Tech. programs. They are also eligible for Electronics and Communication with specialization in Biomedical Engineering and B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (specialization in Bioinformatics) but after joining, having Mathematics as the main course is mandatory.

  • One who have obtained full-time regular and formal education are eligible to apply

Age Limit
  • Applicants whose birth date falls on or after 1st July 2002 can apply for VITEEE 2026

  • The date of birth as registered in the High School/X Certificate/SSC will be considered accurate. Candidates must create this certificate in original as age proof at the time of counselling. If any qualified student fails to bring the certificate, he/she will be disqualified.

Qualifying Subjects
  • Applicants who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics mandatorily at the 10+2 level are eligible to apply for all the VIT B.Tech programs

  • Applicants who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the 10+2 level can apply for admission into the following courses, provided that the applicants join a bridge course in Mathematics - 

  1. B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Specialization in Health Informatics) offered at VIT Bhopal

  2. B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Specialization in Bioinformatics) offered at VIT Vellore

  3. B.Tech Biotechnology offered at VIT Vellore

  4. B.Tech Bioengineering offered at VIT Bhopal

Students willing to appear for the exam must go through the subject-wise VITEEE eligibility criteria below:

  • Students who will choose Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English and Aptitude while filling out the application form are eligible for all the engineering branches through the VITEEE 
  • Students who will choose Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Aptitude while filling out the VITEEE application form 2026 will be eligible for the engineering courses listed below:

The Non-Resident Indian who is to appear for the VITEEE exam in 2026 must check the subject-wise eligibility below:

VITEEE Eligibility Criteria 2026 for Foreign Students

The foreign students who are willing to appear for the VITEEE exam must go through the eligibility criteria below:

  • Students must have studied English as one of the major subjects
  • Students must have studied Physics and Mathematics at the A Level, Form VI, Senior VI, or equivalent. Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Biotechnology, or Biology is the possible third subject 
  • Students must have secured an aggregate of 55 per cent marks in 10+2 or equivalent

VITEEE Eligibility Criteria for Admissions

Those who pass the VITEEE 2026 exam will be able to take part in the seat allocation and counselling process. Depending on their merit ranks, students will receive calls to participate in the VITEEE counselling in 2026. During the counselling process, students will have to select their preferred campus and B.Tech programme. Following this, admission of students will be determined by their merit, the availability of seats, and the choices they have locked in.

VITEEE Reservation Criteria 2026

The VITEEE does not have any caste-based reservation. The admission to the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is completely based on merit. The admission is provided on the basis of the marks secured in class 10+2 and the VITEEE exam. However, VIT gives a 100% fee waiver for the top students from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh who have studied in government school.
