Step 1: The percentile has to be subtracted from 100 marks

Step 3: The marks obtained from the previous step will be divided by 100 to obtain the rank.

How GSEB SSC Grading System Better than the Percentage?

The GSEB SSC Grading System 2026 is better than the percentage for the following reasons:
  • The Gujarat Board 10th Grading system will show the rank of all the students who will appear in the exam while the percentage system will provide top 10 rankers of the academic year.
  • The grading system focuses on the group of students. On the other hand, the percentage system deals with the individual marks of the student.

GSEB SSC Percentile Rank 2026

Once the Gujarat Secondary Education Board (GSEB) SSC result for 2026 is released, students can calculate their GSEB SSC percentile based on the total marks obtained in the main examination.

Calculation of Percentile Rank: The percentile rank is determined by comparing how many students scored lower than the individual in relation to the total number of students. For example, if a student scores 473 marks out of 500, and there are 95,000 students who scored between 0 and 472 marks (L), with a total of 100,000 students (n), the percentile rank of the student is calculated as (L/n) x 100. In this case, (95,000/100,000) x 100 = 95.00. This means the student is in the top 5% of all the students.

Thus, Percentile Rank = L/n x 100

  • Where x = the coefficient on which the percentile rank is to be calculated
  • L = Total number of students who scored 0 to x – 1 marks
  • n = total number of students covered in the cohort (eg n = 822401 in March-2026).

If your percentile rank exceeds 99, you are among the top 8,224 students in March 2026. The marks derived from this calculation determine your GSEB SSC percentile for 2026, which is then used to evaluate the GSEB SSC grading for 2026.

Why is Percentile Rank Important in GSEB SSC Grading System 2026?

Percentile rank is important in GSEB SSC Grading System 2026 because it shows a student's relative performance compared to others, rather than just absolute marks. This helps reduce pressure from exact scores and accounts for variations in exam difficulty across sessions. Moreover, it helps to identify one's strengths so that one can focus on subjects they are thinking of considering as a future career options.
