Maharashtra SSC Grading System 2026 has been specified by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. You will get a distinction if you score more than 75% marks in the aggregate total.

Maharashtra SSC Grading System 2026 consists of 4 grades, namely: Distinction, Grade I, Grade II, and Grade Pass. If you achieve more than 75% marks in the aggregate, which will be calculated based on the 6 compulsory subjects that you have opted for, then you will be provided the distinction division. Followed by the distinction division, for students who obtained not less than 60% marks in the aggregate, is Grade I. To all the other successful students, a pass will be provided. The minimum passing marks are 35%. In the case of language heads and Social Sciences, which have been allotted the maximum of 100 marks each, a candidate must obtain at least 35 marks in each of them, and in Mathematics and Science, which have been allotted the maximum of 150 marks, a candidate must obtain at least 52 marks in each.

Maharashtra SSC Grading System 2026

There are 4 grades introduced by the Maharashtra Board. You will get a distinction if you score more than 75% marks in the six compulsory subjects. Check the detailed grading system below:

Grade I

To successful candidates who obtain not less than 60% of marks in the aggregate calculated based on the six compulsory subjects offered for the examination, Provided that, if the aggregate total number of marks obtained by a candidate is less than the total number of marks required for obtaining the first grade, by not more than 3 marks only, such candidate shall be given the necessary grace marks not exceeding three in computing his aggregate of marks for purposes of award of the first grade.

Grade II

To successful candidates who obtain not less than 45% of marks but less than 60% of marks in the aggregate calculated based on the six compulsory subjects offered for the examination.

Grade Pass

To all other successful candidates. Provided that, the First (with Distinction) or First or Second Grade shall not be awarded to a candidate who appears for the examination with any exemption earned by him.

Maharashtra SSC Grading System 2026 For Optional Subjects

There are some optional subjects also included in the curriculum for Maharashtra SSC. For these subjects, no marks will be allocated, but grades will be provided. Check out the grading system to be followed for the optional subjects below:

  • A for 60% and above marks
  • B for 45% to 59% marks
  • C for 35% to 44% marks
  • D for below 35% marks
  • E for Exempted

Maharashtra SSC Passing Marks 2026

The minimum passing marks for Maharashtra SSC are 35%. Check out the passing marks criteria from the pointers below:

  • To pass the Secondary School Certificate examination, a candidate must secure a 'C' Grade in each of the optional and School Certificate subjects chosen by the candidate.
  • For language subjects and Social Science, where the maximum marks allotted for the theory paper are 100, you are required to achieve at least 35 marks in each subject to pass.
  • In Mathematics and Science, which have been allotted the maximum of 150 marks, a candidate must obtain at least 52 marks in each.
  • In a subject for which there is more than one paper or practical, the marks will be added together for a 'pass' in the subject.

Maharashtra SSC Condonation Policy 2026

The condonation policy followed by the Maharashtra board is to help students. According to the Maharashtra Board, students who have not applied for any exemption and fall short of 2 or 3 marks will be provided with automatic condonation of marks.
