UP Board 10th Grading System 2026: Calculate CGPA

To calculate Grade Points, the following formula is to be used:

CGPA Formula = Total of grade points obtained in subjects / Total number of subjects.

  • After calculating the grade points of each subject, add all the grade points.
  • Divide the sum of the grade points by the total number of subjects, and the final value thus obtained will be the UP Board Grade Point Average (GPA).

For eg, suppose you secure 8 Grade points in English, 8 in Hindi, 9 in Mathematics, 6 in Science, and 9 in Social Science. So, as per the data, the sum of the grade points i.e. 8+8+9+6+9 = 40. Now, if we divide this sum by the total number of subjects, we get 8 as the GPA, i.e. 40/5 = 8.

So, the Overall GPA is 8, and the grade is B1.

Conversion of GPA to Percentage

You can follow a simple procedure to convert their GPA into percentages. Check out the simple procedure from the pointers given below:
  • To calculate the percentage using the GPA scores, the following formula is to be used:
  • Percentage = GPA X 9.5
  • For eg, Percentage in Above Example = 8 X 9.5 = 76%

UP Board 10th Grading System 2026: Passing Marks Criteria

You are required to score minimum passing marks as set forward by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad to be considered a “Pass”. Each State Board sets its minimum passing marks criteria, and the UP Board follows specific guidelines for its Class 10 examinations. To pass, you must understand the UP Board High School passing marks, which are evaluated based on the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern. Under this system, theory exams carry a weightage of 70 marks, while practical and internal tests contribute 30 marks. The UP Board 10th result mark sheet reflects grades for each subject as per the grading system. As per CCE guidelines, students failing in one subject, except Hindi, are still declared to have passed. Those who fail in two subjects can appear for compartment examinations, while students unable to clear three subjects are permitted to reappear in those specific subjects in the next academic year. The passing criteria involve both theory and practical assessments. Check the detailed UP Board Passing Marks for Class 10th 2026 here:
