CGPA Formula = Sum of grade points obtained in the subject/number of subjects.
- You must note down the grade points for each subject through the grading scheme table.
- Add the grade points for all the subjects.
- Divide the calculated grade point by the number of subjects, and you will get the overall UP Board CGPA.
Example to calculate UPMSP 12th CGPA
Subject | Grades | Grade Points |
|---|---|---|
Maths | B2 | 8 |
Hindi | B1 | 7 |
English | B2 | 6 |
Chemistry | C1 | 7 |
Physics | B2 | 7 |
Total of Grade points | 35 | |
Divide it by the number of subjects (i.e. 5) | 35/5 = 7 | |

Calculating Percentage Using Grade Points in the UP Board 12th Grading System
To determine the Grade Point Average (GPA) for the UP Board 12th Exams, students must add up the grade points earned in all subjects and divide the total by the number of subjects.
Example of GPA Calculation:
Suppose a student earns the following grade points:
- English: 8
- Hindi: 8
- Mathematics: 9
- Science: 6
- Social Science: 9
Adding these grade points gives a total of 40 (8 + 8 + 9 + 6 + 9 = 40).
To calculate the GPA, divide the total grade points by the number of subjects.
For this example:
GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Number of Subjects
GPA = 40 ÷ 5 = 8
